Cover shoot: Grand Strand Magazine

Big Accomplishment!!! I have been dreaming of having a cover for so long, I honestly didn’t think it would ever happen. Its so surreal, every time I see my work published I get stoked, no matter how small. The cover seems like such a big deal. I just picked up a copy at the grocery store, and I had the thought that a ton of people are going to see this regardless if they’re looking for it or not.

So… I got to shoot this at “The Sea Captains house” its located at 3002 Ocean Blvd, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577. I had a shot list and I’m so glad we went with the breakfast, because I’ve had an image burned into my mind of a fellow Photographer that I had the pleasure of working with in 2016 named Christopher Shane. (very talented, and I wish I’d been able to work with him more frequently) He took a photo of of waffles on his table and they were so dope looking. I’ve tried to do similar shots, but nothing had I shot had the same isolated and attention grabbing feel. When the graphic designer asked if I could get a picture like that, I was all in.

I showed up, set up by a window (like I normally do) and made a big white bounce box. I brought in a wooden surface that I have and placed the white flag behind it, and a reflector to the left of the frame, opposite the window) set my exposure, and started firing away. I think this picture was probably of the first 5-6 that I took, super straight forward. I cant express how glad I am that i got the one they wanted because moments after this group of people opened a nearby door and the white flag fell and messed up the garnish on top… and it made a stain. Great huh?!

We shot a few more dishes, I hope the restaurant buys them, fingers crossed. I had a good time and got to mingle with some folks at a local ad agency, they seemed excited, the magazine seemed excited, and I myself was excited. Seems like everyone walked away satisfied. I got a cover shot, they got the cover shot they wanted, the restaurant is getting continued exposure, and the ad agency has some more content to share.

Feel free to hit me up and tell me what you think. I have a contact form, email, Instagram or you could text me. Thanks for reading, hoping to share more good news soon.
